Candy the Cat is the titular secondary antagonist of Five Nights at Candy's and Five Nights at Candy's Remastered. He is an animatronic cat who, like the other animatronics, wanders around the restaurant in search of the night guard. He has a twin sister named Cindy the Cat.

In Five Nights at Candy's 2, Candy is replaced by his new counterpart in the minigames, and his withered new counterpart in-game.

In Five Nights at Candy's 3, Candy makes a brief appearance in the Fishing with Candy minigame.

Appearance

FNaC/FNaC:R

Candy is a blue animatronic cat with a bright red tie, rosy cheeks and reddish-brown eyes. He has rounded triangular ears, and two small fangs on his upper jaw. His appearance, along with the other animatronics, heavily resembles that of the toy animatronics from Five Nights at Freddy's 2.

FNaC 3

In the Fishing with Candy minigame, Candy is rendered in a 16-bit aesthetic, and appears much more cartoonish, with a bigger head, shorter body, and a cheeky grin. He holds a large red basket used for catching fish.

Mechanics

Initially, Candy will be seen standing next to Cindy on the Main Stage (Cam 01). He will then move to in front of the cardboard Cindy display in Main Hall 1 (Cam 02), after which he will enter one of two rooms. Either, he may go to Main Hall 3 (Cam 05), or stand in front of Chester's stage curtains in the Secondary Party Room (Cam 09), after which he will proceed to stand in front of a Candy the Cat-themed arcade machine in the Arcade Area (Cam 08). From there, he will either enter Backstage 2 (Cam 07) and ultimately appear outside left doorway at Backstage 1 (Cam 06), or he will go directly from the Arcade Area to Main Hall 3. Regardless of whether he came from Main Hall 1 or the Arcade area, one Candy reaches Main Hall 3, he will proceed to Main Hall 2 (Cam 03), and then the Entrance Hall (Cam 04), where he'll appear outside the right doorway. When he attempts an attack, Candy will eventually return to the Main Stage after 7 seconds if he is blocked by the corresponding door. Otherwise, he will enter the Office and attack the player, resulting in a Game Over.

An interesting thing to note is that if Candy is ready to move away from either Main Hall 1 or the Arcade Area to one of their respective destination rooms, then the resulting place he moves to will be decided randomly if both destination rooms are vacant, with an equal 50-50 chance. However, if one of the rooms is occupied by another animatronic, he will always move to the empty room. This means that on later nights, Candy is technically more likely to approach from the right side than the left, because Chester, Old Candy, and The Rat all appear in the Secondary Party Room as part of their routes. If both destination rooms are blocked when Candy wants to move, then he will enter whichever room opens up first.

FNaC 3

In the Fishing with Candy minigame, the player controls Candy, who is catching fish in a basket. The fish are tossed up, and slowly fall down the screen where Candy stand with the basket under each fish. Occasionally, a garbage item such as a boot will appear, which Candy must avoid catching so as not to end the minigame.

Trivia

  • Candy's model was stolen from Emil Macko prior to his use in the FNaC series by BFPFilms424, who used Candy for an unofficial fangame titled "Five Nights at Freddy's 3". BFP also renamed Candy to "Sugar" for the game.
    • Later, BFP removed Sugar and renamed "Five Nights at Freddy's 3" to "The Return To Freddy's: Classic", after requests from Scott Cawthon. Eventually, after the release of The Return to Freddy's 2, BFP re-added Sugar to TRTF:C due to community demand.
    • Sugar was also changed to a female in the games' lore, and, while not appearing as a main antagonist, would make cameos in The Return to Freddy's 3 and 4.
    • In The Return to Freddy's 5, Torture Sugar, a "tortured" version of the regular Sugar, would also be drastically redesigned due to BFP not wanting accusations of him having stolen Candy's design to continue.
  • There was a debate on what Candy's proper color was. Some had said that Candy was purple, while others stated that he was blue. Emil Macko later released an image of a plush Candy, with the plushie in blue.
    • The earliest pictures of Candy, without his signature tie, originally had him in blue.
    • Those who had said that Candy was purple may have simply mistook Cindy for Candy, due to their rather similar designs.
  • An image of Candy was released on Twitter by a fake Scott Cawthon account, and a number of people subsequently believed that Candy would appear in the official Five Nights at Freddy's 3. This was later confirmed to be fake.
  • Candy appears in the very first teaser for FNaC, along with the word "soon". If brightened, the numbers "01000110", "01001110", "01000001", and "01000011" appear underneath the "soon". This is binary code for "FNAC".
  • Candy, Cindy, and the other animatronics are in the same style as the toy animatronics from FNaF 2, especially with the blushed cheeks.
  • Candy's reflection can be seen very faintly beside Mary Schmidt's overtime paycheck after completing Night 6. It looks like a frame from his jumpscare, and why it is included is currently unknown. The reflection will slowly fade into visibility on the floor, as if Candy is staring at the paycheck.
  • Candy is one of the most popular original characters from any Five Nights at Freddy's fangame. He has also appeared in many other fangames.
  • Candy and Cindy are the only two animatronics active on Night 1.
  • Candy and Cindy are the only two animatronic to have Funtime versions of themselves as easter eggs in Five Nights at Candy's 3.
  • While Candy doesn't appear in the main gameplay of Five Nights at Candy's 3, he is seen in the Fishing with Candy minigame.
  • Candy the Cat and Emil "Ace" Macko are both mentioned, and in the case of the former, appear in the FNaF fan-game "DayShift at Freddy's"

Errors

  • During his left jumpscare, his head clips through the monitor.
